OASYS shows flexibility of its automated playout software at BVE 2013

OASYS will demonstrate the latest features and functions of its automated playout software on Stand J58 at BVE 2013, with live demonstrations that highlight the flexibility and versatility of the OASYS playout software.

“We continue to shatter the preconceptions about automated playout software, with demonstrations that show just how quickly and easily we can make changes to playout configurations, giving broadcasters incredible choice and control,” said Mark Errington, CEO, OASYS. “We are pioneers of IT based broadcasting and have been commissioning solutions for over 20 years.  We have the experience to design and deliver solutions for many different operating scenarios, using the same base servers, but configuring them to a customer’s playout requirements.  Then if the requirements change over time, we can quickly reconfigure the servers in software to meet the new requirements, which minimises the initial outlay, lowers the cost of ownership and improves ROI.”

OASYS will present how its software can be switched instantly between twelve different settings to highlight different uses with just a simple software setting change. Demonstrations will include simple playout, complex branding, simulcasting, multiple channels playout, time delay playout, multiple branded output, and multiple live inputs.

Errington added, “There is a lot of conflicting and confusing information in the market about automated playout, so we invite people to talk to us for an honest, open and simple explanation of how it all works, with the facts to make an informed decision – not unverified statistics, marketing hype or confusing terminology.”

OASYS shows versatility of automated playout at IBC 2012

OASYS will demonstrate the latest features and functions of its automated playout software on Stand 8.B38C at IBC 2012.

Instant configuration changes will highlight the flexibility and versatility of the OASYS playout software, switching between eight different settings to emphasise the functions that can be performed with just a simple software setting change. This will allow for demonstrations of simple playout, complex branding, simulcasting, multiple channels in a box, time delay playout, multiple branded output, and multiple live inputs.

“Showing visitors a standard set-up that we can change live and on-the-fly is a great way to demonstrate the power and usability that a mature and well developedautomated playout solution can give them, and they are invariably astonished at the broad set of features we can actually provide, and how these can be tailored for the special needs of each broadcaster,” said Mark Errington, CEO, OASYS. “We offer a wide-ranging portfolio of playout configurations for different broadcast requirements, all of which are endlessly adaptable for the individual broadcaster, and all come with the rock-solid reliability and levels of support our clients have come to expect.”

OASYS will also introduce new features including subtitle setup improvements for SD and HD, and IP-based failover routing, while new modules for media connections and file management provide for a range of new functions including file playout from UNC paths, a wider range of IP streaming, and new file purging options.

Slovenia’s STN extends OASYS playout capability

Slovenian playout centre STN has ordered three new OASYS Automated Playout channels, adding to the six HD channels installed in 2011, making OASYS a key part of the STN controlled and operated playout centre. Systems integrator RoBaGo will install the systems in the coming weeks.

STN is one of the most innovative playout providers in the industry, offering a variety of playout options for clients to choose from. The new and existing OASYS systems work alongside STN’s iTX systems in a complementary way, with both systems built around Isilon IQ X-Series scalable nodes; this enables STN to seamlessly scale the capacity from a few terabytes to multiple petabytes and over 45 gigabytes per second (GBps) of throughput.

Tomaz Lovsin, Managing Director, STN, said, “STN has used OASYS software since its very beginning, when IT-based playout was in its infancy, and thefact that we still use it many years later – albeit with many more sophisticated features and functions – shows that there are many benefits that OASYS offers. Today’s OASYS Player is supplied with a richly featured, broadcast quality branding and graphics display management toolkit, and its handling of live events is astonishing; not only can the system literally replace a video console, but it can also handle all the graphic challenges that may arise during the live transmission. No other IT-based playout can achieve what the OASYS system can achieve; it is a very powerful playout system that is nevertheless logical and easy for our operators to work with.”

Mark Errington, CEO, OASYS, said, “We have worked with STN for many years, and they have benefitted from our feature developments as their requirements have changed. Sharing the central infrastructure with other playout technologies is an example of the flexibility of the OASYS solution, and adding new channels is quick and easy.”

OASYS appoints Biedenharn to head US sales

OASYS, the pioneering developer of Automated Playout solutions, has appointed John Biedenharn to the role of Sales Director -Americas as the company continues to build its global operations.

After an early career in aviation animation and computer graphics sales, Biedenharn spent five years with Matrox International, developing worldwide relations with early Broadcast Automation OEM customers.  Branching out on his own, he launched and introduced Automation Technology to the North American market through his manufacturers’ representation firm, HD-Ware.

The appointment of Biedenharn, who will be based in the greater Los Angeles area, follows on the heels of a very positive NAB for OASYS.

Mark Errington, CEO, OASYS, said, “We had many interesting conversations with US broadcasters at NAB 2012, confirming that OASYS Automated Playout solutions are an ideal fit for the market requirements, providing the features that are needed but not available in other solutions. John’s appointment allows us to assist those looking to move from alternative workflow solutions – both traditional and IT based – and to enable them to take advantage of the benefit of 20 years of development in automated playout, so they can be confident that the features they use are configured for and fit their individual requirements.”
