arvato Systems IT solutions achieve double honors at NAB 2015

Two Broadcast and New Media solutions from arvato Systems win awards at NAB 2015

  • NewBay Media Group praises AdStore, the central advertising slot sales platform for cross-media campaigns
  • Best of Show Award also goes to high-performance Media Asset Management System VPMS

At NAB 2015, the world’s leading trade show for TV and New Media, arvato Systems entered two of its software solutions – Adstore and VPMS – which both won the  coveted “NAB Best of Show” awards.

NewBay Media, the internationally recognized publishing group, uses the opportunity provided by NAB to honor technology solutions in key areas of the industry. NewBay Media’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.

Taking part in the competition for the first time, arvato Systems put forward two of its customized IT solutions, which both won:  centralized advertising slot sales platform for cross media campaigns AdStore convinced the judges, as did Media Asset Management system VPMS. VPMS has long been market leader in Germany and is also now increasingly in use in North America.

“Recognition with an award at the NAB Show from NewBay Media’s Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications,” said NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group Vice President & Group Publisher Eric Trabb.

Ralf Schürmann, CEO of arvato Systems S4M GmbH, said arvato Systems’  IT solutions are able to provide effective support for TV, Production and Media enterprises around the world as they respond to the challenges of digital transformation.

arvato Systems launches EditMate

  • EditMate, the new solution for editing, provides project management extension to Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
  • Features and benefits of arvato Systems’ latest innovation will be presented at Cabsat in Dubai

Broadcasters like those attending the CABSAT 2015 in Dubai face a challenge familiar to media companies across the world: Ever-increasing demands for efficiency and quality coincide with the need to move to a new non-linear editing platform, all while allowing users to benefit from the existing MAM installation. The EditMate solution is presented at Cabsat 2015 in Dubai from 10 to 12 March 2015.

EditMate was developed to dramatically increase productivity and quality control in environments where editors share networked access to projects and media files.  With an optional integration to a MAM system, additional workflow control, data sharing, access control, and other advanced functions are also available.

The new tool is an elegant editing project management solution that enables collaborative editing, project sharing and easy-to-use management of all project related files within Adobe Premiere Pro CC. arvato Systems’ newest product is fully integrated as a Premiere Pro CC plugin and is an optional component for VPMS, arvato Systems’ popular MAM solution. EditMate tracks all your editing projects and also includes features for automated metadata import, housekeeping, user rights, template management and efficient import of multiple projects.

As a plugin inside Adobe Premiere Pro CC, the intuitive EditMate user interface offers easily accessible tabs for functions like Search, Create, Save, and Check In. Based on system configuration and templates, required and optional metadata are populated either by users or automatically filled in from a connected external source, such as arvato Systems’ MAM solution, VPMS.

EditMate manages all your editing projects securely, and users from any location can access projects and their related media files. To prevent disaster scenarios, EditMate manages stored AutoSaves, and users can restore their own or other projects directly through their EditMate window in Premiere. Projects that are controlled by EditMate can be locked, and, when connected for instance to a MAM system, the related media files can be flagged to prevent deletion as long as the project is active.

Administrators have the power to configure various aspects of EditMate, including metadata definitions, searchable metadata, hold-back times, templates and standard project “collections”, presets for automatically created project titles, and more.

EditMate changes the way media companies can think about and work with editing projects: From isolated “editing bays”, to networked and collaborative environments where tasks are completed by quality-focused, collaborative teams.

arvato Systems is at CABSAT 2015 in Dubai from 10 to 12 March where the company and its partner Qvest Media showcase its innovative industry-specific solutions for managing and monetizing the digital transformation at stand E3-10.

arvato Systems expands Digital Media Management team

With two  high-level appointments, arvato Systems Cologne demonstrates ongoing commitment to its Media and Broadcast customers: Matthias Dirks and Frank Schmitz will be working in Germany and abroad to optimize installation, implementation and support of arvato Systems Media Asset Management, Studio Production and Workflow Management solutions around the world.

With highly-qualified IT specialist Matthias Dirks, arvato Systems has gained a Head of Professional Services who brings not only technical qualifications, but also the know-how that comes with years of experience in international account and project management. Combined with extensive development and management experience gained in his previous role as Director of Online Solutions at arvato Systems, Dirks has the best possible background for taking over responsibility for all national and international Digital Media Management projects including installation and product deployment.

Following a successful project implementation, the highest levels of support and service have to be ensured. To achieve this, on 1st November 2014 qualified communications engineer Frank Schmitz was appointed as head of Support for Digital Media Management Systems. “It’s certainly an advantage that all my previous roles have been in the media industry,” comments Frank Schmitz. Like Matthias Dirks, he has built up a wealth of national and international project management experience and was most recently Head of Product Management at media services company, Cinram.

These personnel changes have been made specifically to address the increased demand created by the success of IT solutions for Media Asset Management, Studio production tools and Workflow Management.

In addition to video content management, the system provides fast, simple search and access to content from a browser-based client. Avamio automates and simplifies many processes such as metadata editing, content upload and import, transfer, and encoding tasks, to mention only a few…

arvato Systems will also show studio the ClipJOCKEY production tool. ClipJOCKEY is a professional standalone solution for ingest and playout and is already used by many TV stations and production houses around the world.

A particular highlight this year will be arvato Systems’ presentation at the CCW conference. Together with Black Arrow’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, David Stengle, Eivind Sandstrand will discuss and illustrate real-life IT implementations for cross-media monetization.  During the session, “Bridging the Gap between Linear and Non-linear Advertising” on 13th November at 2pm (CET), delegates will learn how, by implementing simple techniques and integration steps, existing IT infrastructures can manage the non-linear business models of the future.
