– at the time the only news TV
station in Romania – my life and
career took a new direction. I felt
very comfortable in the fast-paced
environment and the immediacy of
the medium, and for the first time I
really considered that this was a
profession I should pursue.
A year later, I had the
opportunity to join Intact Media
Group, the largest Romanian based
capital media group in the country.
In 2005 I became a news presenter
at Antena 3, the newly formed all-
news TV station that was part of
Intact Media Group. Within a year, I
moved from news presenter to host
of “Sinteza Zilei cu Mihai Gadea” –
'The Daily Summary with Mihai
Gadea' talk show.” Today, I combine
the roles of CEO of Antena 3 – the
#1 TV-news station in Romania –
and host of a daily talk show. I am
now in a place and a position I could
never have imagined as a theology
student so many years ago.
ABOUT ANTENA 3
Antena 3 is the Romanian TV
channel for news and current
affairs, launched in June 2005. With
an average of 6.5% market share,
Antena 3 is the number 1 news TV
station in Romania and forms part
of Intact Media Group, which groups
a considerable number of the most
important brands in the audio-
visual and print industry in
Romania.
Antena 3 has positioned itself as
“the news specialists”, offering
relevant information and putting the
facts into context. Its target
audience are dynamic, urban, active
people, with high aspirations, aged
18+, highly educated, with average
and high income, working in private
companies – executives, middle
management, clerks, etc.
The programming mix of Antena
3 includes news with local and
international content, sports and
weather, current affairs talk shows
such as “The Press Review with
Mircea Badea” – one of the most
popular TV personalities in Romania
– , financial and business magazine
programmes, as well as
investigative programmes such as
“In premiera cu Carmen Avram”.
MY CAREER
I am currently the CEO of Romanian
news TV station Antena 3 and, at the
same time, I am the host of the daily
prime time talk show “Sinteza Zilei
cu Mihai Gadea” –

Theology had always been an
interest of mine so when I
graduated with a bachelor degree
from the Theology Faculty at the
University of Bucharest it seemed
natural that I would make it my
life’s work.
It never crossed my mind that
my naturally curious and inquisitive
nature would find its full potential in
television until an opportunity
presented itself and I was offered a
job at a small TV station where I
learned the basics. It was a perfect
fit for me, and it seemed that TV
was where I should be.
So in 2004 when I was offered the
on of producer at Realitatea TV
Our programming has won praise
and awards from our industry
peers.
LATEST INITIATIVES
In October 2011, Antena 3 became
the only news TV station in Romania
affiliated to CNN International. This
was a highly important move as
Antena 3 will broadcast in Romania
the best news and reports made by
CNN while programme material of
Antena 3 will have global reach
through CNN’s international
network.

live. We seek to empower our
audience by providing them with a
multitude of platforms where they
can personalise or generate
relevant content through opinions,
comments, feedback or citizen
journalism. Digital media and user
generated content play an
important role in our development.
FUTURE STRATEGY
In Romania, about 80% of the
population state that TV is their
main source of information. We are
the most watched news television in
the country and number 3 among
general channels. Demand for
information is still increasing, and
our goal is to consolidate this
position and become the primary
source of information for
Romanians.
In view of the fact that this year
local elections are held in Romania
followed by presidential elections in
2014, Antena 3 aims to be a trusted
news source and provide an
accurate picture of events. With our
investigative reporting strands, we’ll
be working hard to ensure we
maintain our status of “news
specialists”.
OUTLOOK
We feel as though we have trained
really hard to run in the Olympic
Games and now we are in top shape
with the best journalists in our team
all ready in the starting blocks. Let
the games begin!
